ONE STEP
LAMINATING, MOUNTING AND ENCAPSULATING
TAC uses GatorBoard as its primary
material for mounting. This is a foam-type substrate that is
very rigid and resistant to warping. It is an especially good
performer for items that are framed and hung on the wall. Some
customers have had TAC use metal backing for mounting an item that
will be used with magnetic accessories. Mounting is accomplished
with the "Seal 44 Ultra". A double-stick coating is applied to the
substrate. The exposed surface has a waxed protective paper that is
peeled off as the item to be mounted is applied into place by the
machine.
Laminating is applied with
heated rollers and can be done on either one or both sides of the
printed matter. One-sided laminating is recommended for mounted
items only. Two-sided, or, encapsulated laminating is geared toward
items that will be rolled and unrolled frequently, become part of a
map book or something that will be displayed in a dirty
environment. Laminating gives protection from wetness, dirt and and
other types of damage to the print. It also provides durability and
prevents creases, tears and general wear and tear. Besides those
obvious reasons, laminating adds value to printed material and makes
for a lasting touch. Laminating can also take the place of glass in
a mounted and framed piece. By using laminate, a wall hung item is
lighter, less reflective and not a danger with regard to breaking
glass.
The maximum width our
laminator/mounter handles is 44".
